Visa Refusal
There are several reasons why a Canadian visa application may be refused. A refusal does not always mean you cannot apply again. In many cases, applications are refused due to incomplete documents, incorrect information, or failure to meet eligibility requirements.

- A ban from applying to Canada for up to five years
- A permanent record in immigration files
- Loss of temporary or permanent resident status (if already granted)
- Possible removal from Canada
Health Grounds
Applicants may be found inadmissible on medical grounds if a medical examination shows that:
- The condition may pose a risk to public health or safety, or
- The condition may place excessive demand on health or social services, depending on the category of application
Medical examinations are conducted by IRCC-approved panel physicians.
Criminality
You may be inadmissible to Canada if you have:
- A criminal conviction
- Pending criminal charges
- Serious offences under Canadian law
In some cases, applicants may be eligible to apply for criminal rehabilitation or a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP).
Poor or Incomplete Documentation
Applications may be refused if:
- Supporting documents are incomplete
- Documents are unclear or inconsistent
- Required forms are missing or incorrectly filled

Incorrect Visa Category
Applying under the wrong visa or immigration category may lead to refusal. Each visa type—such as visitor visa, study permit, work permit, or permanent residence—has different eligibility criteria and document requirements.
Not Meeting Eligibility Requirements

- Minimum language scores
- Required work experience
